About the VDOC

Our Mission is to provide support, information and training which helps ensure a long and loving relationship between owners and dogs through Obedience Training.

The Victoria Dog Obedience Club is a registered non-profit organization maintaining the goals of the American Kennel Club. Many members show their dogs in Obedience, Conformation or Agility. Some members do not show a dog, but assist with club functions. Individuals with non-registered dogs are welcome and there are venues to show a non-purebred dog. Members of the dog-loving public are welcome to join the club.

The Victoria Dog Obedience Club (VDOC) was founded on June 25, 1981, and our first spring and fall Obedience Classes began in March of 1982. In 1989, we received approval from AKC and held our first annual sanctioned obedience match. The club introduced the Canine Good Citizen Test (CGC) to Victoria in 1992 and VDOC members were on the ground floor giving input to reform the test to what it is today.

In October of 1984, VDOC began a spay-neuter program in Victoria, known today as P.A.W.S., Pets Are Worth Saving.

The VDOC became a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization in 1986 and also started our first annual Pets with Santa fundraiser.
